I did this piece while at a residency. It’s hard to describe the experience except to say that it made me feel a bit like a red headed stepchild. I received the residency through a director of children’s programming who apparently didn’t get the memo that collage was not a “respected medium,” according to the Assistant Curator.

Hard to find a comeback to that.

It became the longest two weeks I had experienced in many, many years, and I will never apply to go back as long as their staff remains. The Scream was quite literally the way I felt each day as I left.
